Why Should I Enroll My Child in a Coding Camp?

Figuring out how to spend school breaks can be challenging, but coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning through their time away from school. Smartphone apps, robots, video games, small business—the world runs on code. Software jobs are predicted to grow 34% in the next few years, making coding and app development the world’s most in-demand skills.

week 1 | Intro to Basic Programming
CLASS DATES: Call us for details
class COST: $75

In this course, students will be introduced to basic programming as they create interactive stories, design animations, and make mini-games in Tynker's game-like interface. Each lesson is designed for a class period of 45-60 minutes. During this period, students learn by themselves as they progress through interactive tutorials, solve coding puzzles, follow along to build their own projects, and take quizzes. All student work is automatically tracked and assessed, and with access to the premium offerings, you'll even be able to monitor their individual progress and mastery charts.

This is our foundations course where students learn the basics of programming through interactive stories, animation and games through a series of tutorials, coding puzzles, follow-along

Topics:

  • Sequencing

  • Repetition

  • Events

  • Conditional logic

  • Animation

  • Storytelling

  • Problem solving and debugging

  • Pen drawing

  • Drawing shapes and patterns

week 2 | Programming 101
CLASS DATES: Call us for details
class COST: $75

An easy introduction to programming for beginners in lower elementary grades. Familiarize your class with visual programming techniques. Students progress through the lessons learning concepts in a game-like interface. To complete each lesson, students typically go through a concept review, solve a puzzle, run through a tutorial, build their own project, and take a quiz. They create interactive stories, animations, and mini-games to help Professor Ada battle the evil Dr. Glitch! After completing this lesson plan, students will be able to build a wide variety of simple programs with events, loops, and some conditional logic.
